Not necessarily. Private Group Play is best for groups who already play, but if a few people are rusty or brand new, we’ll keep the game moving and answer questions as you go. Just know this is play, not a lesson. If your group is mostly beginners, our lessons are the better place to start.

Private Group Play is game night — your crew, a few focused hours at the table, with mahjong as the main event. A Hosted Social is a gathering where mahjong is one of the things bringing people together: a birthday, a girls' night, a celebration, or just a good excuse. We set up the tables and host the play; you build the rest of the night around it. Not sure which fits? Tell us what you're imagining and we'll help you land on the right one.

We bring tiles, mats, racks, and cards. You provide the space, a table for every four players, and a chair for each guest. Snacks and drinks are up to you!

You can put in a request, and we'll let you know what we have or what's similar. You're welcome to pick one set of tiles and one mat for every four players. If you'd like more variety than that — a spread of different sets to try and compare — that moves into Mahjong Tasting Menu territory - let’s discuss.

Yes — it's a great add-on if anyone in your group is thinking about buying their own set. We'll bring a few extra setups to try alongside your event. Just ask us about pricing and inventory when you reach out.

We ask for at least 48 hours' notice to reschedule. Give us as much lead time as you can and we'll find a new date that works.

Deposits are due at booking. Full payment is due 48 hours before your event. If extra guests join on the day, we'll settle any additional-attendee charges afterward, based on who actually played.

Every event is scoped to your headcount, format, and length, so we create a personalized quote for each engagement, rather than publish a generic menu. Tell us what you’re planning, and we’ll build it with you.
